We are equipped with a full apothecary, Ayurvedic Counselors and Practitioners, Yoga and Pilates instructors, an on site community based Acupuncture clinic, a Physical therapist, top notch Bodyworkers and Massage therapists, and an amazing mindfulness community. You can walk, bike, or ski to our location. We are located at 3200 Hwy 50, Unit 5 (Meyers Trading Post) in downtown Meyers, California*, “the roots” of South Lake Tahoe. We have educational workshops, retreats and offerings to enhance your knowledge about your body, mind and spirit. And best of all, our instructors, therapists and pracatitioners are educated, compassionate, and flat-out awesome.
Our health and the health of those around us depends on the investigation of our physical, mental, and spiritual selves. When one undergoes a dramatic shift it creates a ripple effect, creating change in others around her/him. We are here to promote health in the whole being, so that there will be a ripple effect to the next generations to come.
Services
HEALTH & WELLNESS CONSULTATIONs
Based on Ayurvedic principles which translate as the science of life or the wisdom, or knowledge of that science. The consultation considers all levels of the individual, body, mind and spirit. Life is supported and maintained in positive health by food, sleep and movement. Our health and wellness consultation goal is to find the ultimate and optimal harmony in the human body, mind and senses. Your consultation is as individual and unique as you are, and each session is personalized to you allowing for natural ways to emphasize health, prevention, physical performance, nutrition, and or supplementation—empowering responsibility for your own well being.
LET FOOD BE MY MEDICINE
Our health depends a lot on the food we take into our systems. Nutrition and Herbology are huge parts of the Health and Wellness Consultations as the body relies on the food we take in and the sleep we are able to achieve. These are pillars of importance for basic medicament and are supported by proper nutrition for your unique body constitution. In your Health and Wellness Consultation you will be guided to your personalized nutritional path. You are what you digest—not just what you eat!
AYURVEDIC YOGA & SPECIALIZED MOVEMENT PRACTICES
Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences—one does not exist without the other. We are moving human beings and quality of movement free from pain and feeling strong and agile—come from the understanding of the individual’s physical and mental needs. The strength of the tissues is a reflection of the state of our health, which can substantially be influenced through correct practice of Yoga and specialized movement practices. To offer proper movement practices that match the uniqueness of the individual, we have several different movement modalities including Yoga, Yoga with fabric, Joryboards, and specialized workshops and learning opportunities. Both movement/Yoga and Ayurveda form a complete and practical model to restore balance to both body and mind, which brings us back into alignment with our true authentic selves.
BODYWORK, MASSAGE & AYURVEDIC BODY THERAPIES
The life journey of each individual is a unique process. We are continually growing and expanding. The authentic process of bringing the mind, body system from an imbalanced state to its normal state happens in our Body Therapy Sessions. Skin is the largest organ of our body and has immediate benefits for the mind, emotions, and physiology. We offer Abyahngha - whole body massage with one or two practitioners using powder, medicated oils and/or aromas, Swedana - the process of inducing sweat and/or heat therapies (herbal pindas, sweat tents, etc.), and Shirodhara - a steady continuous stream of warmed oil poured over the forehead which enables the individual to correct stress-related issues, nervous system imbalances, and increase relaxation, rejuvenation, and proper sleep habits.

Classes
Fabric/Aerial Yoga
The fabric (a.k.a. aerial yoga) classes offered at The Studio use soft fabric hammocks to enhance yoga and specialized movement practices. The fabrics, which are strong enough to support 1000 lbs, are hung close to the floor so that the student can use the hammock as a prop to fully or partially suspend the weight of the body. In fabric classes, students release chronically tight muscles while building strength to balance the body, resulting in better alignment, which benefits both the energy body and the physical body. Pressure on spinal discs and other joints is relieved through relaxation and purposeful slow breathing, as gravity pulls various parts of the body towards the floor, encouraging deep muscle layers to release and spinal structure to realign. The hammock is designed to help the student better understand the body and its freedoms, along with increasing awareness of the cycles of the seasons and the cycles of our lives. Creating flexibility and strength, these classes are accessible to all bodies and level of practice.
Joryboard
This small, personalized group class was designed around the inventive Joryboard. The board allows the practitioner to move functionally and three-dimensionally while working with specific muscle groups to balance, condition and improve the body as a whole. The board is equipped with specially designed springs, straps, and fabric that enhance the simplest movements. The practitioner is taught to focus with the breath and movements to improve postural alignment and correct neuromuscular patterns in the system. Joryboards are versatile enough to challenge the conditioned athlete, yet gentle enough to encourage the beginning student.
Joryboard is perfect way to stop working out, and start working in. Get the most out of the time you spend taking care of yourself. Come try the new Joryboard classes here at The Studio Lake Tahoe.

LTMC COMMUNITY PRACTICe
We have met weekly since July 2014, providing encouragement to each other on the path of mindful living. In practicing as a community, our practice of mindfulness becomes more joyful, relaxed and steady. Time is spent practicing sitting and walking meditation in the tradition of Plum Village/Thich Nhat Hanh, in addition to discussing our current book, “Anger: Wisdom for Cooling the Flames.” Most mornings we conclude by enjoying breakfast together. Check out our LTMC Facebook page for more information. Founder and facilitator: Karla Johnston
